An amazing aircraft way ahead of its time. Thanks to the decision to fit it with Rolls-Royce engines, about the same time it was a financial disaster. Had Lockheed chosen the GE-CF6 as McDonald Douglas did, it would have arrived on the market at about the same time the DC-10 did. The L-1011 was a luxury liner without design flaws.
