They were OK at one time but they've retrogressed quite a bit lately, their planes are now too old (A340s), and they are suffering fr om severe competition from other, more ambitious carriers like Emirates. Food on board is bland to say the least, the IFE is one of the poorest I've seen on any long-haul aircraft, so poor I read my SAS novel virtually at one sitting! Only good thing is the excellent Bois Cheri tea, grown in Mauritius and served on board. Apart from this I woud not really bother to go out of my way to travel with them again, not unless they busted their prices down to a level wh ere they could possibly compete with other airlines purely on a fare basis, as I could endure 12 hours on a plane knowing that my ticket cost me less than with one of their rivals. Happy flying.

They closed check in 2hours prior to departure. Unfortunately, I, along with 5 other independent travelers, arrived at 10:30 and no representative was to be found! We missed our flight.

South African Airways

DO NOT FLY SAA. I flew from Bloemfontein to Harare over a month ago and booked my luggage direct. Needless to say it never arrived. Over a month later and still no luggage. I have not received ONE phone call from SAA. I have had to call the airport department, Joburg, Bloemfontein and make several trips back to the airport to check myself. I have left numerous messages and been into their head office. No one cares. Even the manager promised to call me back (speaking face to face in her office) and five days later I am still waiting. SAA are now avoiding my calls and I either get cut off or told the manager is busy, in a meeting or on another call. Their service is disgusting.

Ethiopian Airlines

Seychelles - Israel, with one stop over Addis Ababa, on their website. Terrible check-in 2hours waiting, due to only 1 lane open for Eco passengers. Terrible flight, re-routed via Egypt, on the two trips, to refuel on purpose because Fuel is cheaper there, but the airline did not informed their clients. No AC during refueling, intoxicated with bad smells from Gazole being ventilated from outside air to inside aircraft. 1 passenger almost passed away, urgent need to disembark him. Resulting in transforming a (non-announced but planned) 1hr stop over into a 5hrs stop over with no AC. pre-ordered Kids Menu identical to adults: spicy chicken with couscous and beans. served twice on both legs. In economy class, no entertainment at all, no individual Tv, no Electronic games, even if the plane looks new, it was simply RAW, no options at all. It's like traveling back in the 80's. Their customer service are not comprehensives. you rather spend an extra 80 to 100 Bucks on another Airline to make sure you are traveling in a comfortable plane, especially when you spend more time in their stinking planes than in the duty-free area… Ethiopian Airline avoid at any cost.

Aer Lingus

My husband and I made reservations on Aer Lingus in September, 2014. We also paid for upgraded seats at a cost of $160 for the 2 of us. Our trip was the middle of May, 2015 to Ireland. When we checked in at the Aer Lingus desk in Chicago we received seats that were not the ones we paid for. We were then told that our seats were given to Aer Lingus Gold Circle Members. How nice! So we were assigned other seats. On the return trip from Dublin when we checked in, we again were not given the seats were previously selected and paid for and were told by the ticket agent this time after checking with her supervisor, that we merely requested these seats and they were not confirmed with payment. Knowing that was not true, I looked up our credit card statement when we got back home and sure enough on the statement it showed 9/25/2015 Aer Lingus $160.00. And once again, we were given other seats on the return trip home. There were two other people traveling with us and they got their assigned and paid for seats both ways. Once we were on the plane, we also realized that the upgraded seats we paid for were the same exact size as any other economy class seat in that plane. So don't be fooled by thinking that an upgraded seat means a bigger seat! Check closely if you decide to upgrade. Upgrading means you get to board first. Wow . . . $80 per person to board first. Would I consider flying Aer Lingus again in the future? I don't think so.

I was quite sceptic about they quality until I got on the seat. WOW. Once you are in the aircraft, you can only notice the high quality that only North Korean engineers could bring. Kim has done his job! 5 star!

Good airline, on time and friendly staff. Good food (you have to pay but better than in terminal) and great pilots. I would recommend this airline to everybody! Safe and comfortable flying!

Free Bird Airlines

Used this airline as part of a package deal to Izmir, Turkey. The outbound flight was typical for a charter airline, but the inbound flight was poor, with a number of safety concerns. The seat in front was reclined as soon as the fasten seat belts sign had been switched off. Usual problem of hitting my knees. Tried to recline my seat, but the passenger behind objected. Left with a small space for the 4-hour flight. This is bad enough, but at no time during pre-landing checks was the passenger asked to move his seat forward. There were four passes of cabin staff that failed to spot this. Also, the arm rest was broken on the outside seat, so it would have been almost impossible to make a quick exit. At no time was anything other than the statement "fasten seatbelts" made before landing. No mention of electronic devices, seat position, etc. I accept this is a charter airline, but safety should not be compromised.

Летали семьей 7.01 и 14.01 в Канкун из Москвы Все хорошо, регистрация началась даже несколько заранее, все прошло без нервов, места дали, как и попросили, у окошка 3 и сбоку 1, то есть всем рядом Самолет был чистый, но сразу бросились в глаза сидения как в лоукостах, что для почти 14-часового перелета предвещало быть не очень комфортным Но мне лично показалось, что расстояние между креслами было больше, чем обычно Телевизоров, USB-слотов ,соответственно , нет Взлет прошел на ура Пледы раздали сначала детям, потом всем желающим, никто не вопил, что ему не досталось Стюардессы не хамили, были вежливы и отзывчивы Половину перелета проспали, завернувшись в куртки, так что никто не жаловался, что было неудобно Холодно\жарко нам не было Еда скромная,начитавшись отзывов взяли с собой перекусить, но в итоге отделались только 1 упаковкой печенья перед посадкой Первый раз кормили блинами\пастой , так же в наборе была булочка, масло и все На второй раз появился салатик Все съедобно Пить давали как обычно,ничего в дефиците не было Почти не трясло Посадка мягкая Обратно вылетели вообще без задержки, самолет был неполный, довелось счастье развалиться на 2х креслах Еда была получше в общем, все вполне прилично, за исключением этих позорных кресел и отсутствием развлечений в полете, других минусов не увидели

Very friendly and effective service, modern and clean plane. Even though other tourist-carriers redurce service to nothing they still do very much for their guests. On our flight from Fuerteventura to Bremen we had a nice meal (duo of pasta) and they came around with drinks three times!

excellent experience. Friendly and courteous staff. spacious business class seating with all the usual accompaniments (cotton cloth, ceramic, metal etc..). Pity about the lack of seat front video. (business class) When fully reclined the seat in front obstructs passenger space.

Was on a flight from capetown to O.R Tambo. Worst experience ever. Cabin crew extremely unprofessional and rude. First flight attended made a comment to another of "maybe if she was friendlier to me, i would have helped her" after a traveller requested assistance. Another flight attended walked passed Asian travelers and made a comment "No need to try and explain the emergency procedures to them, its not like they would understand it anyway". After landing waited 30 minutes for baggage to come around, i can not even recall ever waiting this long for my luggage even on international flights. never ever in my live of jet setting have I had such a bad experience with an airline. I would not recommend this airline to anyone. Absolutely disgusted with this airline. Excellent service received from Mango Airlines a few days ago no complaints there staff was useful, friendly and offered assistance to all travelers.

Gulf Air

MCT-BAH-LHR return, October 2014. Gulf Air is not the worst and by far nowhere near the best airline in the region. Expect delays with no explanation as to why on all legs. Also, on shorthaul flights (A320/321), you'll find decent seat pitch of up to 34 inches in Economy, while on the A330s (especially the updated ones), you'll find that trimmed back to an excruciating 31 inches, which is entirely unacceptable on a long-haul flight. Gulf Air also likes to save and scrimp on service - the BAH-LHR flight featured only 1 meal service, no ear plugs or comfort kit and a second round of beverages only upon request. Food quality is generally good, although presentation is mediocre at best. Cabin service is spotty on all flights, never consistent, much like their definition and understanding of communications and punctuality. A cut above the miserable Etihad Economy ("Coral") experience and that of EgyptAir, but definitely a so-so airline at best. Luggage was returned damaged after both long-haul legs, too.

Terrible airline. Went Maracaibo-Panama and back, the flight was about 8 hours delayed going and 6 hours delayed on the return. All other passengers I spoke with had had the same experience so it seems that several hours of delay is the rule and not the exception. The airplanes are old and not well kept and on the return flight I had no space for my legs - my knees were literally squeezed into the seat in front of me. Arriving to Maracaibo the airplane made some strange moves that scared me and I fly quite a lot so I know that those were not normal moves. Avoid this airline if you can! And if you can't and need a connecting flight, allow at least 12 hours or more between flights if you don't want to lose your connecting flights!

Thai Airways

I flew Thai business class with my family from Sydney to Zurich. I found the airline at best a little better then average. I will say that the food was of good quality and lots of it. The drinks were in abundant supply. However the planes are were old. My seat electronics were not working. Can I imagine paying business class fares and having too manually adjust the position . The entertainment system is very outdated. The TV screen is standard definition and scratched. The upholstery is tearing and thin. If seated in one position the seat is thin and the padding has lost form do I started developing pressure pain. The seats do not recline completely.At best it's 150 deg. So slowly you start to slide down as u sleep. So eventually u wake up to reposition yourself. The cabin crew is helpful but they can only work with what they are given to work with. I think Thai airways needs to buy new planes or at least update there business class.

Not reliable, very bad! The first time I had a ticket with this company, due to malfunction our flight was delayed for more than 24 hours. The second time, in September, once the a/c on the plane started working, a dark and smelly smoke started coming out from the a/c vents. We had to disembark and wait for more than 6 hours for a replacement plane. Thank God it happened before take-off. I hope that it's was the last time I had to fly with this company.

I totally agree with Eric. Though the crew was nice and trying to do their best, the aircraft is not comfortable and not appropriate to such a flight as Fortaleza-Lisbon... And above all, for a person stressed by flying such as me, the plane was not provided with music and film devices. It is really long without any movie or music to listen. Tap was saying that it would provide equivalent services but it was not true.

This was the worst flight experience ever. The craft had a technical difficulties with hydraulics despite the regular check they advertize on their web. They have left us waiting on airport more than 10 hours without no food supplied to kids (unless glass of Coke and sandwich can be considered as kids food) and no information when we will possibly fly. Absolutely unprofessional service on “customer care”, I wonder how they even dare to call it “care”. This company can obviously spoil your whole holiday experience.

Zürich - San Antonio TX, via Philadelphia, round trip. - I first booked my US Airways flight via I authorised payment by credit card online - and got an instant confirmation that was 388 dollars more than what I had authorised! This, onetravel later claimed, was due to an increase in the flight's price during the booking procedure. I managed to cancel my reservation and to book elsewhere. As I am a journalist, I contacted the US Airways press office, to find out what their position on the fraudulent practices of that sales' agent of theirs is. US Airways refused to answer my questions and their representative also refused to give me her name. After 30 years in journalism, that was a first. - As for the actual flights: UW Airways ground staff appeared not to work for an airline, but for Homeland Security. They were incredibly rude. - The flights safety briefing of passengers from San Antonio to Philadelphia consisted of "check the safety instructions in your seat pocket". I doubt that this conform to the legal requirements. - The onboard food was meagre and barely edible. On the flights Zurich - Philadelphia and Philadelphia - Zurich, staff disappeared for six hours. No drinks were offered during that time. I had to look for staff (who seemed to be having a good time) and beg for a bit of water. - Entertainment: There were no games available; movies were shown on big screens. On the way to the USA, the headphone socket was broken, and on the way back, all three headphones I was given to try were broken too. Therefore, no inflight entertainment. - I do not intend to ever fly with this airline again!

Sichuan Airlines

I was flying from Kunming to Chongqing to Beijing to San Francisco. All on Air China except my flight from Kunming to Chongqing, which was on Sichuan Airlines. Their computer had an error saying my passport number was a mess of symbols, and to call my ticketer to fix it. I was two hours early and my ticketer was open 24/7 so they re-entered the same 'correct' number it in time. Their computer still showed an error. I had to rebook with another airline to make my next leg, which wasn't cheap. I had no problems with my passport number on Air China. This clearly was their computer's problem communicating with my ticketer's. If you are an international traveler booking on other sites, I do not recommend Sichuan Airlines. Also I can not find a US/English website or phone number for them.

I faced very low professional attitude to the clients from representative of TRANSAERO in Los Angeles International Airport on May 31st, 2014 They refused to check-in the luggage of my daughter flying from Los Angeles to St. Petersburg through. As result of this misstep, she had to take the luggage in Moscow, to do registration again and she missed a connection flight. Of course, the Jung girl got lots of the stress. For this point I will never use this Airline again and strongly recommend to other people not to use this one. This Airline cannot be trusted.

The airplane was great, the pilots exceptional. I bought a one way no stop ticket from Tambor to San Jose airport taking 25 minutes, enough time to check in for my return flight home to San Fransisco. Just before boarding, the pilot told us that we would be making an extra stop. The extra stop added one hour and 20 minutes to our already 25 minute flight. They attempted to land but couldn't due to weather, then landed somewhere else, waited for the call to try to land again, and then returned to the location to land and pick up 9 more passengers. By the time I got to San Jose we had missed our plane. If we had gone from Tambor to San Jose we would have arrived with plenty of time to check in and board. This extra stop by Nature Air cost us another $400 in change fees with Aviancia, and hotel and food cost. Not to mention the disappointment of not being able to return home as planned and the problems that caused. I tried to deal with the company but they continually spoke to issues that were not relevant and never to their error in inserting another location I did not pay for plan for. Poor business practices to say the least.

It looks as if Aerocontractors is just another Nigerian scam. I have tried the phone number on this page and the numbers listed on their website the message comes back that the number does not exist on the global network. I have tried e-mail to their e-mail address listed for Lagos and Enugu on their website. Both messages were returned as not sent.

Travel time between Moscow and Izhevsk is listed as 2 hrs but often you will arrive sooner, sometimes significantly sooner as in 30 mins ahead of schedule - which is pretty good. Go for an aisle seat as window seats have the slight discomfort of a titling ceiling (designed that way) Food on board, good and very generous when you compare to economy class portions on the big airlines in the world for trips of 2 hrs (in fact many/most airlines won't even offer you a meal for such a short flight time) Full meal, drinks, desert etc etc. Very good. Overall highly recommended. If you book in advance as of 2014 return Moscow - Izhevsk prices are about €120.

I booked a flight from Mumbai to Hyderabad for departing from Mumbai 9.40 am on Apil 9, 2014 thinking that it was a 9.40 pm flight.I realized my mistake when I tried to check in at the airport at 8.20 pm. The Check-in lady politely pointed it out and advised me that the girl at another counter would be able to help me out with the least possible financial loss. When I went to the other counter, the lady (Steffi) said I had to pay the full fare and said the other lady was ignorant. When I insisted on talking to the Supervisor, she insisted that even he could not do anything. When I met the Supervisor, he told Steffi a way to mitigate my loss by 50%. Steffi reluctantly obeyed his instructions and allotted me and my friend in the last row, though there were vacant seats in the middle. I give the airlines a low rating for employing people like Steffi at the front desk and give a higher rating for employing people like the Supervisor and the lady at the Check in counter.

My plan was to go to Colombo 2 weeks ago from Delhi. To my big surprise though when arriving to the airport in time with a confirmed ticket, me and my partner found out when we were checking in at Delhi airport that Sri Lanka Airlines had overbooked the flight and denied us involuntarily to no trip for us. I have not yet received any refund or compensation and I wonder primarily, how many else have a similar experience with this airline which is not obviously respecting their customers nor laws or international policies? Violating a contract, not following international standards, and not following up with a customer that involuntarily missed one's trip just shows that Sri Lanka Airlines can not really deliver on smooth journeys.

Tiger Airways

I have flown several regional low-cost carriers in the past few years (Air Asia, Jet Star, and Air Do that I can recall), and Tiger Air was far and away the best. The ground staff and flight attendants were friendly and courteous, and everything went smoothly. The meal was very small and a little disappointing, but such is airline food. I wouldn't recommend purchasing a meal. The flight was from Singapore to Phnom Penh. A big bonus for me was the fact that we boarded from an actual gate, rather than having to take a bus to the plane or walk across the tarmac, as is commonly the case with low-cost airlines (at least in Asia).

Huge disappointment for Korongo Airlines! Poor service, poor communication! Bought a ticket from Johannesburg to Lubumbashi. Flight delayed 3 times, without giving customers any reason!! No compensation, no hotel, not even a discount. I do not live in Africa, but I do business here, therefore I lost a lot of money! Not flying with this airline anymore. My vote for Korongo Airlines - ZERO.

I have always had good experience with Mango airlines, just the landing and departures, if the take off is good you must expect a bit of rough landing and vice versa. But the pilots are good honestly.

Having become a fan of Virgin America, we decided to give Virgin Atlantic a try on a recent flight to London. Across the brand, the experience is the same and alway superb! We were able to obtain their lowest fare Upper Class tickets for the same price as an economy fare on United Airlines. Best lie flat seats in the industry. They give you a "sleep suit" on the night flights. Food is superior to any airline. Their afternoon flights even feature tea service complete with finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream, and of course, tea! No complaints. We'll be back.

I love Virgin America. I was a United Airlines Million Miler until their merger with Continental. Now UAL treats me like crap. Flying with Virgin is a very civilizing experience. Flowers at the check in counter. Staff that acts like they want you to be their customer. Flight attendants who are happy to see you and who look and dress like they like their jobs. Fares are competitive. Seats are by far the most comfortable of all. Their seat back in-flight entertainment system RED is the best bar none and allows you to pre-order and pay for food and drink. The food is far better than you can get on United. Also very happy with their frequent flyer program and ability to get upgrades. Have permanently switched from United to Virgin.

Aegean Airlines

Awful Aegean experience (Heathrow to Athens, 22nd December 2013): Hand-luggage with just two laptops (one of them half size) is overweight for Aegean airlines. Just one hand-luggage bought especially for cabin use and used in others budget airlines with no problem. They made me to empty it twice! For a ticket bought 9 months ago at a price of £420 for a flight equivalent to 3:40 hours!!! The flight was delayed an hour. I manage to get my connection to Mytilini, which was also with the same airline. Aegean has monopolised the local aviation. The time scheduling is such that it doesn't work to take another airline to Athens and then get aegean for the local trip.

Comment on business class: Europe to Narita - Haneda to Europe comfortable spaceous seat - good storage for personal belongings (wallet, watch, smartphone ...) good food - very friendly and helpful service good lounge in Handea - that´s what your need - work as planned - smooth - noiseless - good!

Beyond poor airline. I have been flying since I was 6 and JetBlue is by FAR the worst airline I have ever flown with including international flights. Not only were both flights delayed but so were both connecting flights with very little information given on what the hold up was for. When I tried to get assistance from the staff they talked themselves in circles about everything that had nothing to do with my questions and then told me there was nothing they could do in any capacity to make things any easier. Very poor costumer service, very poor airline run by incompetent people. Do not fly with JetBlue the hassle is hardly worth the couple bucks you might save.

Very poor service. I booked a seat on their 21 December 2013 Flight No.OG112 from Donetsk to Kiev on 10 December (4 days ago). Just received a two line email from them this morning stating that the flight has been cancelled for 'commercial reasons'. I'm not impressed, as they state in the email I have to contact their Ukraine call centre, from the UK, to chase a refund - what a pain! I certainly won't be booking anymore flights with this airline in the future.
