Welcome to my review page!
I had a long-standing desire to visit the north of Tay, and this year I realized it. I didn’t want to plan the trip on my own, and it would have taken a long time, so we used the services of local tour operators. Therefore, the choice of airline did not depend on us.
We learned that we were flying Thai Lion Air 2 days before departure.
On November 18 at 4 am, on a transfer included in the tour price, we depart from Pattaya to Bangkok, Don Mueang Airport.
We arrive at the airport, disembark at gate 11 of terminal 2 - departure of local flights.
At the entrance you will immediately find out in which rows the airline check-in counters are located.
It is impossible to take an overview photo of the terminal, it is sandwiched by roads and an overpass along which the railway runs.
Enter the terminal. We are greeted by a large information board with advertising and a flight schedule for departure.
Check-in counters of our airline.
They brought us very early. Registration is not yet open. Let's take a walk around the terminal. NokAir check-in counters.
We reached the end of the terminal. There is a small waiting area and a couple of cafes.
From the end there is access to a multi-level parking, at the ends of the terminals there are smoking rooms.
Entrance from the parking lot. It’s good that there are no useless security checks at the entrance.
The entrance is to the departures area, and there is an escalator leading to the arrivals area.
Since the departure was early, we were left without breakfast and had a snack in the cafe-bar. They offer a standard portion of rice, it comes with a fried egg and you can take two servings of any hot dish, as shown in the photo.
Single cost - 80 baht (220 rubles), coffee 50 baht (137 rubles). Of the minuses - payment is only in cash.
It was dawn outside.
We go to the check-in counters, check-in for our flight has already opened. Office of the main carrier of the airport AirAsia.
On the board our flight SL506 at 8-35.
The robot cleaner stops to let us through.
Office NokAir.
Office of our airline, with souvenirs.
There is mourning in Thailand, there is appropriate decoration everywhere.
After receiving flight information from the tour operator, I tried to select on the airline's website places. There is a fee for choosing seats; you can only pay with Visa and MasterCard. UnionPay cards do not work on the site. Although this way the card works without problems in shops, cafes and so on.
We went to the self-check-in counters.
But at them, when registering, you cannot select a seat. The assistant working at the counters directed us to the classic check-in counters.
In broken English they asked for two seats next to each other, and for one of them to be near the window. Apparently my knowledge of English seemed sufficient to the receptionist, and the girl offered seats at the emergency exit, although from everything she said, I understood the Emergency exit, I nod my head and give my consent. I thought I would have to part with a couple of hundred baht, but after looking at our backpacks, she gave us tags for hand luggage and boarding passes.
Satisfied, we set off for pre-flight inspection.
There is a small queue of passengers with paper boarding passes at the security check. To the right are the counters for passengers with biometric boarding.
The line is moving quickly. We pass the inspection without any problems.
And we find ourselves in a clean zone. It is one long corridor, from which branches 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. go to the left. Accordingly, with exit numbers 11,12, 41-42, etc. There are cafes and shops along it.
In some places there are windows overlooking the platform.
Our gate is 41, there is no plane yet.
The terminal is quiet, there are practically no announcements.
There are installations.
Local monks, they prefer air transport to move between temples.
Another photo of our gate.
AirAsia boards are everywhere.
4th boarding gallery. At the entrance there are monitors broadcasting video from the gates.
There are many boarding galleries.
AirAsia boards, in special livery.
And in the classics.
There are also business rooms.
Empty spaces are filled paintings.
The movement of the boards on the apron is active. B-737-800 NokAir and B-737-900 ThaiLionAir.
Departure time is approaching, we go to the 4th landing gallery. Our gate.
While waiting for the flight you can get a massage.
Walked to the end of the gallery. There are toilets, free drinking water, a playground.
There are a lot of places to wait.
The crew approached one of the gates, the board is already waiting them.
Aircraft parking. And the next AirAsia plane taxis for takeoff.
The airport has two runways. Two red sides on braking and takeoff.
A B-737-800 ThaiLionAir appeared from behind the 5th gallery.
In a couple of minutes I find out that this is our board. Registration number HS-LGT, age 11.5 years, with the airline since 2024, before that years with the parent airline LionAir.
I return to the gate.
Parked. The location of the gate allows you to take a lot of photos.
In the distance, hangars are visible behind the runway, most likely military and government aviation.
Our crew has arrived.
The flight information appeared on the board.
It has begun landing Let's go on board. Boarding was carried out in rows.
Well hello, a new airline for me.
The first rows are marked with red antimacassars. Applies to priority seats.
Lighting and luggage racks.
Standard row.
And here are our places at the emergency exit.
We take our seats.
Upper panel.
While landing, I examined the contents of the pocket. I laid out the table.
In the pocket there are safety instructions.
Paid food menu and sample prices.
Instructions for flying passengers at the emergency exit - in principle, everything is clear.
Flight magazine, with a flight map.
View of the wing from the window.
The landing is over, the board is being towed to the engine launch area. On the platform it’s still the same - AirAsia, NokAir. ThaiLionAir.
There are also long-haul aircraft here - AirAsia A-330, taking off.
Bird on landing.
At the executive level, an AirAsia A-320 takes off in front of us.
Taxiing out.
View of Terminal 1 - international.
Two ThaiLionAir B-737-900 take off behind us.
Run off to the north.
Disconnection, there's a business parking lot below jets.
A panorama of the city has opened.
Almost immediately after takeoff, we begin the maneuver, heading north.
Panorama to Don Mueang Airport.
Soon the urban development gave way to fields.
And then it became completely cloudy.
The flight is short. Climb - short horizontal flight - descent. There is no service, they only rented a cart with paid meals. And now there is a decline. A cyclone from China came to the north, bringing with it cold air and rain.
Interior during descent.
We are breaking through the clouds already near the ground. Below there is a low-rise urban development, there are only a few high-rise buildings in the city.
Humidity is high, a co-current stream breaks from the wing.
Landing. A-320 AirAsia and ThaiAirways let us pass.
Braking on a wet runway.
International departures terminal.
Atr-72?.
Flight from Hong Kong and mainland China.
We are not allowed a jet bridge. The board then proceeds on an international flight.
Our flight is over. According to F24, it went like this.
Departure plan/actual: 08-35/08-45
Arrival plan/actual: 09-50/09-39
Travel time plan/actual: 1-15/0-54
Leaving the board.
We go down the covered ramp to the bus.
A big plus for the airline, they save money on buses, send them half empty, without filling them to capacity.
We go to terminal.
And we immediately find ourselves in the baggage claim area.
We don't need information, there is no luggage - we go to the exit.
Greeters.
In the arrivals area everything is like at a standard airport - taxi, car rental, SIM cards, cafe.
We called the guide and determined the meeting place. We go outside.
The general trend for airports is growing - well, at least in 4 of them - smoking areas are located at the ends of the terminals, in isolated rooms.
Public transport.
The Russian taxi ordering service - maxim also works.
We meet with the guide and go on a 3-day trip.
The first location is the observation deck of the city. With an excellent view of the airport.
That's all.
The review turned out to be longer than the flight.
