Two hours before departure and NO CHECK-IN AGENT AT AIRPORT - so no boarding pass. And no flight. Unable to check-in online (tried for hours before flight to no avail - error message: "You are early. Web checkin begins 24 hours before...). Ok, so let's check-in at the airport. Nope - unable to check-in with self-serve kiosk there - directed to "see agent." But again - THERE IS NO AGENT AT THE AIRPORT. Customer service on phone said I was checked as a no-show, that I would have been called at the gate but how would I even get there - through security - without a boarding pass. All customer service wanted to do on the phone was try to book a new flight - for $800! While my flight was still an hour and a half from taking off! No accountability. Oh, sure, you can fill out their feedback form and wait a month for a response (this was my experience when trying to prevent my 23,000 points from expiring - surprise - their response came after they expired!). Just look online at all the Porter reviews - they are overwhelmingly bad and mostly have the same thing to say: issues with boarding flight; inability to get boarding pass; bad customer service that takes no accountability; delays (the on-going delay with my flight - the one I had, at this point 2 hours and 20+ minutes still to catch) was was due to "shortage of ground crew/category: controllable." Customer service on phone (Nicole ID 5975) made up stories about check-in time that do not align with actual Porter Policy (i.e. there is no check-in time close, only online close 60-minutes prior to flight, but nothing about checking in at airport). When you see this many issues repeated you know to steer clear.

Just another scam. One of their big selling points is that they offer free wine and beer on flights. I'm over 2 hours into my flight and I am unable to obtain a 2nd beer. This happens to be one of my trips where I won't be driving after the flight today so I was looking forward to relaxing with a couple of drinks before getting to Edmonton but at 67 years of age maybe they feel that one beer is my limit. I'd be more than happy to pay for the "free " drinks and at least have one when I care to. If I want to be treated like * I might as well go back to Swoop or Flair. At least the poor service is cheaper. I'll be canceling the return portion of my trip and certainly won't be flying with these scammers again anytime soon.

Porter Airlines has gone downhill - it was good when it first up opened years ago, but it's gotten steadily worse over the subsequent years. The prices keep increasing, but the perks disappear - you have to pay for your baggage, and seat selection, and they no longer give you sandwiches on flights (that was one of their selling points, at first), and the porter lounges have less and less offerings for people waiting for fights - no more business computers, no more cappuccino machines, less choice of snacks, etc. That stuff is relatively minor (since all of the airlines have started doing the same thing), but it is very disappointing. The bigger issue is that they actively lie to you about the waiting times for their flights - and, the wait times have become ridiculous! Furthermore, Porter is outright dishonest about promised compensation for flight delays - it will promise customers the moon and stars in flight vouchers, if your flight is delayed past 4 hours, but then, their customer relations teams will reneg on everything that was told to you by the Porter agents in the airport. I am absolutely disgusted by my latest, terrible travel experience - there was a 7.5 HOUR delay (not including flight time - that brings it up to 13 hours) on my flight, and all they gave us was a paltry $100 voucher, expiring in less than 6 months, in return, to "apologize," when the passengers were promised four times that amount in compensation vouchers, if they waited out the delay. They do not honour their word. They are liars, plain and simple. For that reason, alone, I do not recommend this dishonest and unreliable airline.

Wow I book for my mobility challenged Aunt who is also deaf, she visits twice a year
Last year her plane from Windsor was cancelled for a full day due to rain. The next day it was unorganized chaos in Toronto and she ended up waiting 8 hours with little to no help. On the next trip to Windsor in Toronto they actually forgot her, had she not inquired after the plane was loaded she would have been left behind. Today the flight from Windsor to Toronto went smooth however she was told that her flight to Sudburry was delayed 6 hours due to a crew shortage. Time to change airlines

Porter has great service on all their flights. They use only brand new Q400 Next Gen aircraft, all with one class, 33 inch pitch seating. All planes are identical, with only 70 seats, whereas some airlines put 78 seats in the same space. Porter gives free wine or beer on all flights from noon onwards, with free coffee, cookies, newspapers and high speed internet in all airport lounges. They have 13 return flights M-F from NYC, Liberty Airport, EWR, in Newark,New Jersey, the closest airport to Manhattan. All U.S. flights fly non stop to Toronto island airport, recently renamed, Billy Bishop airport. Boston, Chicago Midway and Washington, Dulles can reach Toronto in less than 1 1/2 hours. Toronto is the hub, so you can fly to Montreal and Ottawa with numerous flights a day and to all main cities in eastern Canada, & north to Thunderbay, Sudbury, Timmins and Windsor. Winter ski trips to Vermont and spring golf trips to Myrtle Beach are both 3 times a week. Flying to the U.S. is fast as you only require 30 minutes before departure to check into Toronto YTZ island airport. The new lounge in EWR Newark NJ airport was just finished in the fall of 2012, and Toronto island has a new $25 million terminal finished in 2012 as well.

Quebec City to Toronto. This was my third time with Porter, and though I've been generally satisfied with the airline on the two first times, I've had bad luck. Once Porter lost my luggage and another time my flight out of Newark was delayed by 4 hours. But Porter compensated me for both mishaps. This time, the flight was on time, the plane was very clean and the service efficient, and my bags weren't lost either. It's a pleasure to be able to arrive right in Toronto city center, but it seems like the island airport has already got too small for Porter's growing business. The domestic luggage claim area is ridiculously small - a tiny little room on the way out. And even though Porter's planes, the Dash 8s, are among the "quietest and most advanced modern turboprops", they're still significantly louder and shakier than jets, and the landing at Toronto island always feels rough to me. All in all, Porter's a great alternative that I wouldn't want to use every time.

Toronto-Newark return. I live close to the TO downtown core and wanted to experience both the convenience of a 5 minute taxi ride to the Toronto Island Airport as well as Porter's "flying refined" service. I was delighted with the convenience and service of both. The Porter lounge (minus alcohol and serious food; snacks, a bottomless selection of hot and cold drinks are complementary) rivals many business class lounges I have visited. Its ambience, appointment, and business center make for convenience and relaxation. I really felt that the environment made passengers feel valued. And all of this is offered just minutes away from the heart of Toronto. The excellent inflight service is presented in spotless and brand new turboprop aircraft that feature leather seats. A snack box, hot and cold drinks as well as beer and wine are all complementary. The white wine was even chilled. The return into Toronto gave us a magnificent of the Toronto skyline. Getting through customs took but a few minutes. Passengers actually seemed to be happy and relaxed as we made our way back to the city via the short ferry ride from this great little airport with its great little airline.
