Estonian Air: Vilnius - Tallinn

The departure from Vilnius airport was early in the autumn morning.

According to the schedule the departure was at 06.01. So early in the morning the municipal transport in Vilnius is steeped in Baltic slumber. It took me 10 minutes and 70 lits to get from the Cathedral Square in Vilnius to the airport. The tickets were booked at the website of the carrier, I also managed to check-in online. But I haven’t printed the boarding pass, so I had to receive it in the airport. In spite of the early time Vilnius airport is rather active. Moscow flights are announced in Russian. And the late passengers are also invited in Russian))) The morning flights are waiting for their passengers…

Vilnius airport mainly services European flights…

But there are no queues at the checking in… so I managed to receive my boarding pass quickly and easily.

The preflight screening is very thorough. If there is something suspicious noticed at the monitor they’ll not ask you anything but open your bag, look through its contents themselves and return it back to you… If you give a ring while passing through the frame you’ll be asked to take off your shoes, put them into a special tray and send it for examination on the special transfer belt. You’ll have to pass the frame barefoot, because there are no shoe-covers, alas.

After the preflight screening there comes the lounge with a number of small shops. There’s enough space for the passengers. Here I met this pretty girl)))

It was early in the morning and dark out-of-doors, so the photos are of the bad quality.

Though the majority of the boarding bridges were available the passengers of Tallinn flight were transferred to the plane by bus.

The aircraft of the Canadian manufacturer Bombardier-900. We’re going on board…

At the entrance we are welcomed by the major steward – a typical Estonian – a handsome huge blond. On board of Bombardier and Embraer aircraft of Estonian airlines there are usually two stewards. The major steward welcomes the passengers and serves the business class, the second one serves the economy class. In our case it was a calm middle-aged woman. The plane is clean and tidy.

The leather seats are comfortable.

The climate control system, light and the steward call button:

The business class consisting of the four seats is just the same as in the economy class and is separated by the curtain. It is empty. The economy class is full for less than fifty per cent.

I don’t like the places at the wing, I prefer to look through the window. But here the emergency exits are located, so there is much more space for your feet than in any other place. That’s why while the calm stewardess was offering the meals and drinks to the customers, I waited for the way to the toilet to become free and moved to the comfortable place at the emergency exit. The empty seats were really enough…

Speaking about food and drinks: from recent times there’re no free of charge meals on boards of the airlines for the passengers with the tickets on the cheapest tariffs. I was just one of such passengers. The menu was standard: beverages, biscuits, sandwiches.

The lavatory is clean, fresh and equipped with everything necessary, which is usual for Estonian Airlines.

Among the entertainments on board there were the following: the magazine, security advisory and the booklet with the goods for sale on board. There was Tallinn alcohol and sweets for sale, not so bad for the 45-minute flight.

The landing was gentle just as the takeoff… And here we are in Tallinn airport. The boarding bridges were not used, maybe they’re not used at the planes of such a type… The plane drove to the very terminal, and we walked to the clear zone where the transit passengers could wait for the next flight without examination. All the rest passengers followed through the clear zone to the exit.

The plane we’ve just flown:

Many shops, cafés, much space for the passengers, enough to seat and wait.

From the clear zone you come to the preflight examination area. It’s also clean and tidy here, there are lunchrooms, cafes and press is available in it…
