What a * joke of an airline! Never going to use them ever again! They didn't let us to take the fish sauce we bought on our checked in bags, and they brought the flight early by half an hour. And sent us a message 10 min before. We already checked our bags in, and we were going through security when they pulled me out, told me to go in a room without anyone and I had no idea what's going on. Found out it was the fish sauce. I am furious, bet the people 'working' taking it home. Also my husband has a middle name, wasn't mentioned when we booked the flight, but at the airport you have to pay them and extra 108000 Vietnamese Dong in cash. And no one ever checked this piece of paper. A * joke! I will always think of this airline as the worst I've ever used and would never recommend it to anyone.
As I write this review, my biggest regret is that I did not record my interaction with the air hostess of flight VZ2105 for take-off at 6:35am on Feb. 23, 2025. I had boarded the plane already only to be told by the air hostess that my carry-on was over the allotted size. She made this assessment just by looking at it, though I had already gone through the boarding gate. She stated that I would have to pay ~$63 for the extra luggage. This was for a flight that cost $119 from chiang Mai to Da Nang. Too tired to argue, I agreed to pay but she insisted on cash in thai baht. I told her that I had no thai baht on me but had my cards for payment (having obviously gotten rid of my thai baht since I was leaving Thailand). She refused and I offered to pay in USD, but she mentioned that they do not accept USD or card payments onboard. Her recommendation was that I go back through immigration to the counter downstairs to pay with my card but that I had only 5 mins, as the plane was about to take off. I was appalled. She continued that if I missed the flight, I would have to catch the next flight, which was ridiculous. The other option she recommended was that I throw one of my bags away. I could not believe this was coming from an air hostess. The other air hosts/hostesses stood around, as if in agreement. She was extremely rude and devoid of empathy - probably my worst encounter in life with an air hostess. She kept counting "You have 2 mins till we take off". I was pretty exhausted and asked if there was someone I could speak with. Eventually, someone showed up with a card machine (wow, what a surprise!) and she took the card payment and gave me a receipt. I will like the airline to investigate this issue. As I reflect on this experience, I realize I should have done more. I will be posting this in every customer forum that I can find, and letting everyone I know to avoid this airline!!! As for the air hostess I encountered, you know who you are and what you did. If you ever get to read this, my question to you is: "who hurt you?" I don't understand how you manage to sleep at night with that attitude. Never again with this airline!!!
Gavan I've used vietjet to Japan, Taiwan and Vietnam multiple times from Australia with no real concerns 1 flight delayed out of about 20 you get what you pay for as it's low cost airline, l do find the inflight service leaves a little to be desired because if you haven't pre ordered food the staff don't really want to know you but for the price of the flight I'd rather put up with that instead of putting a extra zero on the ticket price
DO NOT TRAVEL WITHOUT KNOWING FULL COST. Charged $50 per kg for laptop bag despite having less check-in luggage - i have never paid extra for a laptop bag in last 20 years! Aircrafts are old, late for 'operational reasons' (i.e. no good reasons), cramped seats with less than adequate legrooms. By the time one pays for all extra charges it is not worth the trouble. Unless they charge 40-50% less than standard airlines, stay clear.
Air hostesses were terrible, didn’t had any manners and boundaries.
I was sleeping they shook me on shoulders to give me water, they rudely asked if I want food or not. No politeness no compassion.
Most of the time Flights are delayed.
Vietjet are average prices and services compared to what you pay is pathetic. Buy water one 250 ml bottle for Aus $5 which is crazy.
I would not recommend this airlines to anyone just to save little money as there is not much difference with Cathay Pacific or Qantas
Vietnamese Aussie here... me, my sister and mum made a trip to Vietnam not long ago. In Australia, it's normal for us to use just first and last name when booking flights, as a matter of fact, most websites we booked from only had a first name box and a last name box, no middle name. I did all my flight booking back in Australia and we had no problem flying from Sydney to Da Nang. When we flew from Hue (nearby Da Nang) to HCM City, the ticketing desk woman gave us such a difficult experience. She said there was a problem because my middle name wasn't on the ticket, and the fact that I had 2 middle names. Mind you, having 2 middle names (or some women 3) is an elegant cultural practice in Vietnam, but here goes this crazy broad giving us such a hard time. So, my after a while, my mum called me to the side and told me that all the desk agent lady wanted was for us to slip her some money. The desk woman took us away from camera view on the side of her booth, we gave her 200 AUD dollars and she brought us to a Vietnamese gate agent, who also asked us for "donation for cigarettes". If this is how VietJet operates, I will never fly VietJet Air again!
After booking a ticket I had to change my flight dates on ringing the Australian phone number 3 times only to be put on hold only then to be disconnect each time
The only way I was able to contact the airlines was to use the Thailand phone number listed to get the required information
A total * of time trying to get answers in Australia
I'm now waiting to see what the flight has to offer

I’m a regular customer of VietJet Air, especially on flight routes SGN-SYD & back. They are fabulous in doing their jobs, from checkin agent teams to cabin crews, have great experiences with them. Delayed happened once in a while but all good after all. It’s worth the money.
Your first destination to any holiday is an airport and airline and i wont recommend VIETJET for the same. On arriving they say a couple cannot have a seating together, that came as a shock to us being a frequent flyer!! What if we are travelling with a child too?? We have to pay extra to avail that which is the most pathetic way to grab some extra money from the passengers travelling for a holiday. Vietjet really need to work on these things to get better.
If you are thinking to travel in a flight with convenient timings, great services and approchable staff but less fares then I would strongly recommend for you to travel with Vietjet air. Vietjet air has highly comfortable leather seats with an adjustable cushion and reclinable seats. Depending on whether you travel in economy class or business class, the meal was ok ( In economy) however, it was served in a limited amount. Despite the fact that were no sides (side meals), the food contained a small box that could be filled with anything matching your preference such as fried rice (vegan), Basmati rice, sandwich(non- vegetarian) and more. In addition to that, the passenger sitting in the aisle seat will get the narrowest and least legroom which could become a conundrum in longer flights. Although, Vietjet air has meals in limited amount and the aisle seater is given the least possible legroom, I would recommend to go in Vietjet air compared to other budget airlines travelling internationally. The prices are highly affordable and the services are the best they could be

in May2022, at Saigon's Tan Son Nhat Airport on a departure to Bali, my carry-ons were weighed.. 3kilos above the max. She, the VietJet gate agent, added my camera, case & attachments, dumping on top of my carry- on bag. That excess cost me $96US or I would have been refused flight. that additional cost was more than what my coach seat cost.. $85US. I could have saved $11US & enjoyed an adjacent seat.
okay, but the not so odd thing that preceded my additional costs was that the VietJet gate agent only weighed the carry-ons for foreigners.

The worst airline ever!! My flight to Nha Trang was delayed 5 times, 6 hours in total. Their customer service is horrible!!
This airline is crazy. They want your service but is terrible and you loose money if the internet services are rubbish.
1. You cannot create an account if you do not have a Vietnamese phone number. When you try to book a flight at random time the payment process comes up with Oops something went wrong. Yes definitely it still charges you and you try to rebook again and it charges you twice. The there is no way to get the money back. This happens a lot. I don’t know the fix. No customer service and the field and plane staff are rude.
How do you help them???? Look at Bamboo airlines to create competitive market!!!!!!
VietJet is the worst airline service I ever had… I was delayed from Thailand to Vietnam for 1 1/2 hours and the airline did not give us an explanation of why we are delayed.. I gave them another chance flying with VietJet again from Phu Quoc to Saigon and we were delayed for more than 2 hours and there were no staffs or crews around to ask when our next fly… overall this is worst airline and bad service ever…
Worst flight I will never fly again! They charged hefty fees for my two checked in bags. Air ticket not cheap. No food or drink in the air. Bad attitude staff. Flight delayed for two hours. Waited for luggages another 1 hour. Just terrible
This airline will weigh your carry-on and charge a hefty fee for check-in luggage. Once on the plane, good luck getting help stowing your carry-on. A cabin crew just stood there like a drill sergeant telling a senior citizen to stow her carry-on luggage and take a seat.
At Narita Airport checking in, paid for reserved seat and extra baggage. Desk checking making me pay for one of the pre-booked seats again or refuse us flight. What a con airline and check in desk people.

My biggest mistake was to book through VietJet. They reschedule flights like piece of cake.
I had a flight from HYD-DPS. They cancelled it 12 days prior to the trip and dont have any proper customer care in India. After hours and hours of communication with them they finally rescheduled it from Mumbai.
Further, just before 3hrs of the scheduled flight from BOM they changed my ticket date from 26th to 27th with 3 hours notice. What is surprising is that my connecting vietjet flight is still 26th. They expect me to time travel and catch up my connecting flight??.
Anyways i reached airport and got to know the flight was delayed for 4hrs and during that time after a lot of back and forth they changed it back to 26th and i was able to board.
It gave me a lot of mental stress!! Even the reason vietjet people give for delay is that it is a low cost airline and we shouldn't have high expectations out of it.
They dont give meals and even water we need to purchase during the flight. The seats ar super uncomfortable.
Only pro was the flight travel time was lesser than expected
Guys spend some extra money and book through a better airline to save yourself from last moment tensions
One of the worst airlines I have recently traveled with. They don't even serve you water. And if your hand baggage is more than 7 KGS they charge 21USD per kg. They are fooling people and earning money. Even if you buy stuffs from duty free, they will not allow if its beyond 7kg hand baggage. Worst airline.. I will never recommend to travel with this airlines. Zero rating for this airlines
Worst airline encountered. Flew from Hanoi to Danang but they left my baggage behind. No compensation. My insurer needs confirmation of incident from VietJet Air to process my claim. Emails to VietJet Air were ignored. Use VietJet Air at YOUR OWN RISK!
This is the worst website to book a simple ticket from Bangkok to Chiang Mai which is taking me 2 hours because it keeps screwing up! Took forever to find info on the luggage and how to get wheelchair assistance and after I finally got through everything, then it won't accept my payment but it sent me an email with an itinerary saying if I don't pay within 24-hours I will lose the ticket. Of course they don't show anyway to pay and there is no record of me when I use the booking number. Ridiculous company and a * of time!
Flight was cancelled surat thani to bangkok it was a one way flight so I could get to bangkok to get International flight to the uk I put in fir a cash refund and they asked for my bank details not they have only offered me a credit shell which is if no use to me as I am in the uk now and will never use. I have tried to contact them on line and email but they will not answer. The flight wasnt big money but the principal is big they take your money and cancel the flights then not give money back
I booked the flight with luggages and meals. The conformation didn’t show the leg information, but I received the confirmation letter with totally wrong leg information... Does the system have BUGS??? The system and the website are the worst I have ever used... I will never book any tickets from vietjet! Neither do my family and friends
Worst flight I've ever seen. I bought two tickets from Chiang Mai to Bangkok. This flight should arrived at 21:05. Because of its internal accident of check-in system, we got delayed for more than 2 hours. We had another flight to catch at 23:40, from Chiang Mai to Beijing. But we missed it so we had to change our flight to the next day. The VietJet Air was so irresponsible for everything they had done. They didn't rearrange another flight for us, nor did they cover the extra fee of changing flight. They didn't response email, the telephone couldn't get through, the staff in charge in the bangkok airline didn't do anything for us!!!
Don't bother. Fights are cancelled or delayed hours so you miss connecting flights. No care, no responsibility. No compensation. No one that speaks English. Leave it for the locals.
This is a horrible airline. Once you book a ticket you are screwed. They list fees on their web site which are completely false. Every rep we spoke to had different excessive fees for ridiculous things, and every time we referred to the published policies and fees on the web site they would say "oh, that's out of date". Call back 5 minutes later and the price goes up again. We felt extorted and humiliated. Wasted hours and hours dealing with them, just to initially think that we were saving a few bucks off of vietnam airlines.
Don't make the same mistake. Avoid VietJet Air at all costs.
