Dodgy!!! The airline refused to let me bored the flight, stating that I was over the luggage limit which was not the case. The airline baggage policy says 2x 23kg checked in which were fine. Then it has a carry-on which is 7kg and an additional personal item not exceeding 5kg, they refused me access to the stating that I am. Only allowed 1 bag at 7kg and suggested I throw everything else away including my laptop. They then complained that I was wearing 2 jackets when it was 5 degrees. The flight was clearly overbooked with all seats selected. Furthermore Nigerians/Ethiopians were standing outside the boarding gates asking people to pay them to get through the baggage, several of them stating that this is there business, seems very dodgy to me that they are able to get through what officials incorrectly claim to be over.
I got back home to Abu Dhabi, and I got to pick up my lost trolley from Addis Ababa which they lost for my flight to Jinka!
I didn’t get any compensation on behalf of Ethiopian airlines. As I was in Jinka for 4 days without any luggage, accessorizes, personal belongs and most of all lots of present for the tribe people in the Omo Valley!
It was so dissapointing and sad not to have my suitcase with all these important things! I had to buy a lot myself as clothes, personal amenities as sunscreen, toothbrush, shoes, jacket and lots more from my own pocket!
I asked the lady on behalf of Ethiopian airlines in Dubai airport if my bag would go all the way to BCO Jinka. And she said yes! Even the tag on the bag and my baggage claim said Dubai to Jinka airport!
I really want some sort of explanation and compensation?!
I keep writing to Ethiopian Airlines support team! But without No succes.
Such a bad experience!!! - do not recommend This airline to anyone!!

It was my first time to travel with Ethiopian airline and I travelled on the business class. The flight was pleasant and the experience was really good. When coming back from Malawi I experienced a terrible and horrible bad customer services. My understanding is that when you are travelling on the business class you are allowed 3 Suitcases each one of them to weighing 23kgs. From Heathrow Airport it was okey as I was allowed to do so. But coming from Malawi they refused me to bring back the 3 Suitcases and charged me £290 for the 3rd suitcase. I was furious and paid as I didn't want the plane to leave me behind. I was so disappointed because I thought the rules should be the same regardless of what country you are travelling from. Under this circumstances I will never advise anyone to travel on ethiopian neither will I travel with them again unless the mistake that has been done is corrected. Thank you

Terrible check-in 2hours waiting, due to only 1 lane open for Eco passengers.
Terrible flight, re-routed via Egypt, on the two trips, to refuel on purpose because Fuel is cheaper there,
but the airline did not informed their clients.
No AC during refueling, intoxicated with bad smells from Gazole being ventilated from outside air to inside aircraft.
1 passenger almost passed away, urgent need to disembark him.
Resulting in transforming a (non-announced but planned) 1hr stop over into a 5hrs stop over with no AC.

In economy class, no entertainment at all, no individual Tv, no Electronic games, even if the plane looks new, it was simply RAW, no options at all. It's like traveling back in the 80's.
Their customer service are not comprehensives.
you rather spend an extra 80 to 100 Bucks on another Airline to make sure you are traveling in a comfortable plane, especially when you spend more time in their stinking planes than in the duty-free area…
Ethiopian Airline avoid at any cost.
My family recently flew from Maputo to Billund with the first leg from Maputo to Addis. Upon departing from Maputo, and without informing passengers, the flight diverted to Johannesburg to pick up stranded passengers from a flight that had developed problems. The diversion added 4 hours to the journey resulting in many people missing their connecting flights. However the most disappointing aspect was the demeanour of the crew, who were incommunicative and rude, traits that are not the norm with most Ethiopians.
I have always been of the opinion that when in Africa we should support local businesses however we won't be flying with Ethiopian, if we can avoid it.
We flew Ethiopian on our honeymoon. When I booked the flight I noticed the short connection time in Addis Ababa and queried this with Ethiopian. I was assured that it would not be a problem.
On flight day our flight leaving Johannesburg was late and therefore we missed out connection. When we arrived we were told to join a mob of about 80 other people that had also missed connections. Our flight only flew once a day so we were put in a hotel and given a transit visa. Not ideal for first night of honeymoon. As a result of the 24 hour delay we missed another flight that we had to rebook out of our own pocket.
All those that were delayed in Addis were promised a USD300 compensation voucher. There was about 30 of us waiting for compensation as we were boarding the airplane to mumbai. The ethiopian staff disappeared and came back with vouchers for some customers. They then left and returned with some more vouchers. We were then boarded and again more customers received vouchers. At this point I was personally promised that they were coming back with a voucher for myself. They didn't come back before the plane took off. At the time I was just relieved to be on our way to our destination, but you can understand that I'm not happy about some customers receiving compensation and me and my wife not receiving.
When we arrived in Mumbai that had also lost our bags.
It's now two weeks later and we have still not received our compensation. We are back home and don't intend to fly Ethiopian ever again, so a voucher for Ethiopian airlines is not particularly useful in any case.
Overall, the worst flying experience I've ever had.
London Heathrow to Kigali via Addis return. London to Addis was an extremely poor flight. The plane was very worn and had obviously seen better days. The overhead TVs for in-flight entertainment were not working very well, plus they did not show enough movies for an 8-hour trip. The worst part of this flight was that the pilot suddenly dropped the plane about 20 minutes in. I'm sure he had a good reason for doing so, but it scared my friends and me a lot - nervous fliers beware! Other flights were fine - Addis to London via Rome was almost empty, and everyone was able to lie down across the row of seats in the middle. However, I was slightly concerned that the flight attendants were not very strict about safety procedures when we landed in Rome. For example, although they said to put your seat straight and fasten your seatbelt, not everyone did, and they didn't seem to care.
