Vietnam Airlines

We were scheduled to leave Beijing via Vietnam Airlines to Ho Chi Minh City, with an equipment change at Hanoi. Upon checking in for our flight, our four bags were weighed and deemed overweight according to Vietnam Airlines regulations. Along with the four bags we checked, they also weighed our carryon bags to come to the total weight. We were told by the young attendants that the rule had just gone into effect that day and that our excess baggage charge would be $345.00! Even if your standard for what is considered excess weight is much more strict than any of the other places we visited, we can't understand charging that outrageous amount. We later learned that Vietnam Airlines has a baggage limit of 25lbs. After 3 email attempts, we have yet to receive a response. Our actual flying experience with Vietnam Airlines was good.
